About Me

Hello, my name is Jennifer Mappin and I am the founder and sole creator of Design Mondo.

Having studied Art & Design at Monash University I went on to establish J.M.Artworks – a graphic design studio based in Fitzroy, Melbourne which successfully operated for close to 30 years. My business was the preferred and highly recommended design studio appointed in Australia to service the licensed character merchandise industry. This involved working face-to-face with creators such as Jim Davis – the man behind Garfield, the late Charles Schultz from Snoopy fame, George Lucas – the producer of Star Wars, and the original boys from The Wiggles! Others included Disney, Warner Brothers, The Muppets, Dreamworks, Marvel, Coca Cola and the list goes on and on.  In the latter part of this business I also focused on writing and designing Art and Craft Books for kids with in excess of 100 books published and successfully sold worldwide. 

After years of high pressure and working within the constraints of deadlines and demands I decided to close the business down and start afresh in something new – and so in 2015, Design Mondo was born. I was motivated by being able to commercially create at my own pace and utilise my illustration and design skills into a viable business model, and providing you with an affordable and unique range of framed and unframed giclée wall art prints.

I always like to keep up with the current home decorating trends but without being one of the pack, and what sets me apart from other wall art suppliers is my ability to provide unique and original artwork – all of which is created by myself (apart from the photographic prints). I’m not attempting to appeal to the masses but rather the discerning customer who’s after something a little more bespoke. Inspired by colour, nature and a touch of quirky, I aim to deliver prints with personality, style and something that speaks to you.
